The Exorcisms of many an Emily

Watching the Exorcism of Emily Rose late last night, gave me the chill. What an engaging story. First: it was based on the life of Anneliese Michel and second: the screenplay by Scott Derrickson (also the director) and Paul Harris Boardman was simply good. The court room scenes through which most of the story is told in flashback unfurls unpredictably through a tight script, intelligent dialog and a fast-paced sequence of events.

The story isn’t an answer to exorcism. Neither a battle of one systemic thought over the other, rather a balanced presentation of science and paranormal with a subplot revolving around the legal moves and motives.

Being a believer in angles, I kept a tiny statue of Michael, the Archangel while watching this film.
In one of the books on paranormal, an author claims that she had encountered Micheal during an OOBE (Out of body experience). She said, he guarded the gates of the soul to see that wayward soul trafficking (demonic possessions) is guarded against.

I recommend the book "The Exorcism of Anneliese Michel" by Felicitas Goodman. The movie is fiction, really. It borrowed two things from the real case: girl dies in exorcism, priest goes on trial. The similarities end there. And they really exaggerated the horror elements. Also, there's a 90 minute recording of one of Anneliese's exorcism sessions at this link.

Personally, I don't think it was a real possession. She only speaks her native German and she sounds like she's imitating Linda Blair in the The Exorcist (which had been realeased a few years earlier).

This film has its share of goosebumps.

BTW, why is there no question mark, on the acrostic below?

gwshogi,
I have heard this recording and it's creepy.
The accusation that she could be imitating Linda Blair is made in the movie too.
who really knows?! :)

Aakash!!!,
the question mark is in place though it doesn't match the tone of voice in which I ask/state this line. Someday there would be something that is a cross between a question mark and a period to match the voice of a half-rhetoric.
(not an exclamation mark!)

So now you do have a questionmark. :)
